Web Eco-design & Accessibility: Why Is It Important to Us?
Digital technology now plays a central role in our organizations, public services, and daily interactions. Yet behind every website, app, service, or digital infrastructure lie very real impacts: environmental impacts (energy consumption, raw material extraction, equipment replacement due to software obsolescence) and social impacts (human exploitation, exclusion of certain groups, and the harmful effects of digital technology).
Another digital way is possible.
When it comes to websites, many quickly become cumbersome, complex, difficult to maintain, and sometimes inaccessible to some users.
An effective website must be visually appealing, but that’s not all. It must also be useful, fast, accessible, uncluttered, and built to last.
We create websites and online stores that meet the real needs of non-profits, freelancers, and small businesses, as well as their audience or patients.
We design only what brings real value, in the most environmentally friendly and ethical* way possible. All of this is done in full collaboration and transparency with you.
*Here, we define “ethical way” as the avoidance of all data collection and retention techniques, dark patterns, and giant platforms such as GAFAM.
Our vision for eco-designed web
Eco-design is not just about optimizing visuals or improving performance scores. It is a design approach that focuses on the usefulness, simplicity, consistency, and sustainability of digital solutions.
We prioritize:
simple, maintainable, and scalable architectures
clear and streamlined interfaces
limiting unnecessary features, trackers, and third-party tools
reducing unnecessary technical dependencies
sustainable technologies tailored to real-world needs, capable of evolving over time
speed, ease, transparency, and accessibility
Digital accessibility is not an option
We place a special emphasis on digital accessibility, particularly for people with disabilities. This means designing web interfaces with inclusivity in mind from the very beginning:
- clear navigation;
- sufficient contrast;
- keyboard accessibility;
- consistent semantic structure;
- support for assistive technologies;
- structured, understandable, and readable content.
When it comes to online stores (webshops), we also prioritize a pragmatic and scalable approach. Rather than automatically adding dozens of features or extensions, we aim to build tools:
- reliable;
- easy to administer;
- tailored to actual needs;
- capable of evolving gradually.
Accessibility doesn’t just benefit those directly affected. It improves the overall quality of digital services: readability, ease of use, robustness, user-friendliness for all users, and better search engine optimization (SEO).
We are not experts in digital accessibility for people with disabilities, but we apply our knowledge in this area to the fullest extent possible to ensure that our digital content is, by default, as accessible as possible to everyone. We rely in particular on the WCAG and RGAA accessibility guidelines.
If you notice a major accessibility issue with our content, please contact us.

A pragmatic approach
We do not believe in unrealistic promises or marketing rhetoric about “green digital” or “sustainable digital” in the sense of being “good” for the environment. We regularly examine these issues to ensure transparency in our work and to provide factual evidence for what we propose and create.
Every project is different and involves technical, budgetary, and organizational constraints. Our goal is to move forward pragmatically by working to at least:
- To choose solutions that respect our data and are hosted in Europe or in the region where you live.
- To reduce the environmental impact of our digital production whenever possible.
- To prioritize simple solutions and avoid unnecessary complexity.
- To build tools that are useful, scalable, and accessible.
What does this mean in practical terms for our projects?
- Optimizing the performance and file size of web pages and applications
- Minimizing unnecessary scripts and dependencies
- Technical SEO optimization
- Focusing on mobile usage and slow connections (responsive design and universal accessibility, even in remote areas)
- Reducing unnecessary features
- Implementing best practices for accessibility
- Maintenance and evolution of existing systems.
Our philosophy
We view eco-design and accessibility as processes of continuous improvement.
Every organization has different constraints, resources, and priorities. The goal is to build digital and web services that are lighter, more useful, more inclusive, and more sustainable over time (in the sense of evolution).
If our principles resonate with you, we would be delighted to work with you on your web projects.
